Than "Gabriel", or it was going to be dangerous, but nature spared the tragedy [PHOTOS]

In many parts of Poland, the situation changed by the hour. In early July, we were experiencing scorching heat and threatened with a prolonged drought. Suddenly, a Genoese low brought storms and downpours, causing rivers to swell and, fortunately, minor flooding. As "Gabriel" raged across Poland, the most challenging hydrological conditions occurred in the Silesian, Lesser Poland, Subcarpathian, Łódź, Lublin, and Masovian voivodeships. Violent storms struck many towns, including Radom, Bielsko-Biała, Kielce, Opoczno, Skierniewice, and Czechowice-Dziedzice, where rainfall exceeded 100 to even 200 mm, equivalent to more than four buckets of water per square meter.

The Institute of Meteorology and Water Management reported thousands of interventions: removing fallen trees, pumping water from basements, securing roofs, and evacuating children from scout camps.

In the Podkarpacie region, the worst weather was on Monday, July 7th. Following the event, a press conference was held at the Podkarpacie Voivodeship Office in Rzeszów, with the participation of, among others, Podkarpacie Voivode Teresa Kubas-Hul.
